GALVESTON Otila Salinas age 78 of Galveston passed away Monday September 30, 2019 at The Resort in Texas City. Funeral services are 6:30pm Thursday October 3, 2019 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston. Burial will take place on Saturday at Cementerio de Guadalupe in La Hacienda de Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

Born August 5, 1941 in La Hacienda de Guadalupe, N.L., Mexico to Manuel Benavides and Dominga Salinas Benavides, Otila was employed as a cafeteria worker in the school system for many years where she was loved my the thousands of students that were fed by her loving hands. Her catholic faith guided her everyday as she lived her life to the glory of God and the service of her family. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother to her family who remembers the good family holiday gatherings and special occasions where she would shine as the family matriarch. She will be missed by her loving family and her memory will live on in her children and many grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Cornelio Salinas. of Galveston; daughter Olivia Solis and husband Lizandro, Sr. of Houston; sons, Jaime Salinas and wife Criselda of Galveston, Jesus Salinas and wife Mariela of Mission, Texas, Jorge Salinas and wife Brenda of LaMarque, Cornelio Salinas, Sr. and wife Esmeralda of Texas City and Edgar Salinas of Galveston; grandchildren Lizandro Solis, Jr., Cornelio Salinas, Jr., Brendaly and Erick Hernandez, Sebastian Salinas, Abigail Solis, Samantha Salinas, Marisol Salinas, Edgar Salinas, Jr., Nayeli Salinas, Alessandra Salinas, Ileana Salinas and Adam Salinas; great grandchildren Liam Hernandez and Alitzel Hernandez.
