Patrick Edward Schmidt, Jr. was born on December 2, 1962 in San Antonio, TX. His legacy of love, kindness, and cheesy jokes will live on through his wife of 26 years, Gail, and their children Danielle (16), Dakota (13), Shyanne (12), and Jordan (10). He was an incredible husband & father, and a loving brother & uncle to his three sisters—Debbie, Cathy, and Colleen—their husbands, and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Barbara Jeanne Schmidt.

Patrick—known as Eddie to his sisters and their families—spent his childhood in San Antonio making a lifetime of memories with his sisters, cousins, and aunts & uncles. He had a long career serving school districts in Information Technology including Millard in Omaha, Nebraska, where he lived with his family for many years, and Clear Creek ISD in League City, Texas during his final years.

Patrick loved growing vegetables, grilling, and was a longtime, loyal fan of the Houston Astros, Dallas Cowboys, and Nebraska Cornhuskers. He could often be found singing rock songs off-key, watching his children's evening dance parties, and taking his golf cart to the beach for sunsets.  As a self-proclaimed "geek" he was always researching and trying new gadgets for every part of his life from his home to his cooking. He and his wife, Gail, were always known to have a house full of animals that Patrick always claimed to "tolerate", but he loved them anyway.

In all of this, Patrick's life is truly characterized by his hard work and his passion for those who were disadvantaged—so much so, that he and his wife dove head first into the foster-to-adopt community, turning his love for those from hard backgrounds quite literally into his family. A family who loves him big, and who he loved back even bigger.

A memorial service will be held on June 22 in Galveston at the VFW Post 880 Hall (1014 24th St, Galveston, Texas 77550) starting at 1 PM .
