Ralph William Montgomery, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on September 25, 2024, at the age of 70. Born on March 26, 1954, in Houston, Ralph was the kind of man who lit up every room with his cheerful smile and endless jokes.

After graduating high school, Ralph made Galveston his home, a place where he found joy in surfing, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was married to his soulmate, Karen, for nearly 46 wonderful years, having met on a blind date at a bonfire that sparked a lifelong adventure.

Ralph was the quintessential family man, always eager to share a laugh, teach valuable life lessons, or whip up his famous breakfast—complete with crispy bacon, fluffy pancakes, and his own special French toast. His love for cooking extended to barbecuing, where he perfected the art of grilling steaks, fish, and hamburgers. His family will fondly remember his Chicken Kiev and picking crabs at the kitchen table. He took pride in being a patient teacher and a fixer, always just a phone call away, ready to lend advice or lend a hand.

He was a passionate fisherman, often found trolling the canals with a beer in hand, searching for the perfect catch. He loved checking crab traps for that next meal. Whether it was capturing stunning sunset photos with his drone or enjoying a fishing trip in Belize, Ralph embraced life's adventures wholeheartedly. His love for the game of golf kept him close with his brother, Gene, and other friends, creating cherished memories on the course.

Ralph was not just a father to his daughters, Wendy De La Cruz and Rhozine Perez and their husbands, Larry De La Cruz and Larry Perez, but also a doting "Papaw" to his five grandchildren: Marren Perez, Raley Perez, Everett Perez, Rhozine De La Cruz, and Larry De La Cruz. He cherished every moment spent cheering them on at their events and shared his passions with them, creating bonds that will last a lifetime.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karen, his daughters and their husbands, grandchildren, and brothers Harry Harper "Cap" Montgomery III (Barbara), Gene Montgomery (Karen), and Steve Montgomery (Connie), a sister, Rhozine Hart (Lyle), and numerous nieces and nephews. Ralph's spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, reminding us to cherish every moment, share laughter, and embrace life's adventures.

In lieu of sorrow, we celebrate Ralph's vibrant life and the love he shared with so many. His warmth, humor, and passion for family will forever inspire us to live fully and joyfully.

The family will host a celebration of Ralph's life on Saturday, October 5 from 4-7 PM at the Jamaica Beach City Park, 16721 Jolly Roger Rd, Jamaica Beach, TX 77554. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made out directly to Karen Montgomery.
