Raymond Benjamin Holman, Jr.

Raymond Benjamin Holman, Jr. was born to Margaret Bell and Raymond B. Holman, Sr. June 28, 1943 in Denver, Colorado. He was proceeded in death by his parents and brother Gerald Holman. Ray is survived by his 6 children, Raymond, Eric, Garet, Honi, Walter and Daryl, 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

His loving wife, Alice, of 38 years passed just 3 days after him. Ray and Alice met and fell in love as teenagers at East High School in Denver. Life   eventually took them on different paths. As a young adult, Ray joined the Air Force and became an Aviation Mechanic during the Vietnam war. He was stationed in   Panama where he met Vilma, the mother of his 3 sons.

He later moved back to Denver, CO where he became an Environmental Engineer at Lear Siegler/Monitor Labs where he was employed until in retirement. Ray was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed many activities, but fishing was his most favorite pastime. He also loved photography, snowmobiling and tinkering with electronics.

Ray crossed paths again with Alice in the early 80's when he took an African American Studies class she was teaching. They rekindled their teenage love and became inseparable.

Alice Frances Holman

Alice Frances Holman was born to James F. Reynolds and Alice G. Rausch on March 4, 1943 in Montgomery, Alabama. Alice is survived by her siblings, LaNell "Skip" Crownhart, Micaela Jones and John Reynolds. 6 children, Raymond, Eric, Garet, Honi, Walter and Daryl, 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Alice and her family spent much of her younger years traveling around the world because her father was in the Air Force.

In her early adulthood, Alice obtained her bachelor's degree in Sociology, working various positions at the University of Colorado at Denver all while raising her three children. She eventually worked her way to Associate Director of Admissions and later retired from this position. Upon retirement, Alice was able to pursue many of her interests and hobbies. Always a book in hand, reading was her joy. She became a book critic and editor for aspiring authors and eventually fulfilled her dream of becoming a published author, her proudest accomplishment! Cooking and baking became her favorite expression of love, and she could frequently be caught reading cookbooks for fun and making       exceptional meals for family and friends.

A lifelong activist, Alice attended many civil rights marches and protests, she even took her children and grandchildren with her and taught them early to speak up for themselves and others in the face of injustice.

Together, Ray and Alice dreamed of living in the mountains of Colorado and made their dreams come true. They enjoyed teaching their children and grandchildren about nature, outdoor living and a life of love and integrity.

Life took them to Galveston, TX where they experienced their sunset within 3 days of one another. They lived their lives on their terms, each making sacrifices and choices for the others benefit. Now, they are together again, reading and fishing in heaven.
