GALVESTON: Raymond Eugene Freeman age 91 of Texas City died Thursday November 27, 2025, at Jennie Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Graveside services are 2:00pm Thursday at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
Born Wednesday, November 7, 1934, in Montgomery, Texas to Walter Ellis Freeman, Sr. and Dorothy Sally Hill Freeman, Ray or Gene as he was known was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Mr. Freeman was the longest serving and most successful debit insurance agent in the history of American National Insurance Company, winning numerous awards and trips for his accomplishments before retiring with over 65 years of service. During his time there he provided for the insurance needs of countless Galvestonians over many generations in times of a family's greatest financial needs. He was beloved by all his clients and always thought of as the most knowledgeable of all agents in Galveston. He was a faithful Christian man his entire life serving the Lord. Since moving from Galveston to Texas City after hurricane Ike in 2008, he loved worshiping at The Fellowship Church. His legacy of faith and a steadfast spirit will live on in his son and grandchildren for a lifetime.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty Jo Freeman; and daughter Sandra Fee survivors include son Ray Freeman, Jr. and wife Susan; grandchildren, Gene Simpson and wife Hiromi, Rachel Bigelow and husband Ryan and Rebecca Freeman; great grandchildren, Tyler and Rylee Simpson, Mae and Pia Bigelow; and close companion and caregiver Diane Valdez.
