Rekitta LaShun Lacy born Saturday, August 18, 1973, in Galveston, TX to the late Timothy Phillips Jr. and Doris Marie Bowser. She entered eternal life on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Jennie Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Funeral services are 11:00am Friday, July 26, 2024, with visitation to begin at 9:00am at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston. Rekitta will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery following the funeral service.

She attended public schools in Galveston and Little Rock Independent School Districts. Throughout her life she was a God-Fearing woman with a strong prayer life. Her love for her 5 Children, 5 grandchildren, family and friends never went unnoticed.

Rekitta would give you the shirt off her back if you were in need. Rekitta's fiery spirit and tenacious constant roasting always had everyone with constant laughter. Rekitta had a nose for great perfumes and everyone knew that your sprays and perfumes would be sampled while she was around, pampering herself by getting her hair and nails done was a must.

At a young age Rekitta had a love for animals and over the course of her life had cats and dogs as pets. Singing was one of Rekitta's hidden talents as well as fishing, skating, dancing and swimming. Rekitta lived her life to the fullest and her presence was noticed when she was in the room. Throughout her life Rekitta always had a great pallet for food.

Rekitta was loved and adored by her husband of twenty years, Audon; mother, Doris; 5 children, Jamie, Trakela, Eric, Marquitta and Melvin; 5 grandchildren, Kameron, Christopher Jr., Melvin Love III, Legend and Amenadiel; sister, Tacheba; brother, Thomas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Rekitta gained her wings on July 14, 2024. She was preceded in death by her father Timothy Phillips Jr.; her grandmothers, Louise Himes and Frances Milson; grandfather, Charles Himes, Sr.; aunts, Linda Beckworth, Ginger Hall-Mcnair, Thelma Louise Winn, Cora Himes, and Eddie Vaughn Finley; uncles, Charles Lacy Sr., James Hall, Standifer Himes and Charles Himes Jr.
