Rene Martinez age 68 of Galveston died Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Jennie Sealy Hospital. Funeral services are 6:30pm Friday January 7. 2022 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston. Burial will take place at El Divisadero Cemetery in San Francisco Gotera, El Salvador. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm where a vigil will be held at 6:30pm.

Rene was born April 20, 1953 in San Francisco Gotera, Morazan, El Salvador to Francisco Martinez and Juana Alvarez. He was employed by The Tremont House for over 20 years. He was of the Christian faith.

Preceded in death by his parents and a brother survivors include daughter Suleyma Martinez of El Salvador; sons, Rene Martinez and wife Edys of El Salvador and Erlin Gustavo Martinez and wife Delmira of Maryland; sisters Maria Martinez of El Salvador and Amparo Martinez of Oklahoma; brother Humberto Martinez, Eddie Martinez and Francisco Martinez all of El Salvador; 5 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
