On Friday, August 4th, 2023 Rene Serenil passed away at the age of 60 in Texas City, Texas.

Rene was born in Galveston, Texas on January 13, 1963 to Jose and Angelica Serenil. He graduated from Ball High School and attended University of Texas at Austin and graduated in 1986 with a degree in Bachelor of Science-Advertising Management. He later went on to work for Paper City magazine in Houston, Muzak newspaper in Portland, Oregon and Paper City, Fine Interiors, Surface and California Homes, all magazine companies in San Francisco.

He is preceded in death by his parents Jose and Angelica Serenil, brothers Marcel, Ricardo and brother in law, Bobby Martinez.

Rene had a passion for photography. He loved traveling, the Houston Astros , the San Francisco Giants and his dog Louie. He loved all kinds of music, dancing and letting out his "grito" at all the weddings and quiceañeras he attended. Rene had a bright and energetic personality, a great sense of humor and was always the life of the party.

He is survived by his siblings, Norma Rhodes, Joe Serenil (Pam) and Mira Martinez. Nieces, Michelle Guillen (Horacio), Stephanie and Elizabeth Serenil, Wendy Detenbeck (Jason), nephews, Chris Edge (Heidi), Bobby Jr. (Alicia) and Ricky (Gilma) Martinez. Numerous great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He will be missed by many.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life ceremony for René Serenil, on Sunday, August 27th at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home, located at 1201 23rd Street, Galveston, TX 77550, with a rosary starting at 1pm.

There will be a reception held afterwards at the same location, which everyone is warmly invited.
