Obituary

Ricardo Lopez III, age 45, of Galveston, Texas, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Jennie Sealy Hospital in Galveston.

Ricardo was born on May 25, 1979, in Harlingen, Texas, to Ricardo Lopez Jr. and Theresa Perales. He grew up in Texas City, where he attended school. A dedicated provider for his family, he worked tirelessly in the restaurant industry at establishments such as Saltgrass Steak House, Olive Garden, and Sonic. His hard work and warm personality earned him many loyal customers and colleagues who appreciated his dedication.

In his free time, Ricardo enjoyed walking his beloved dog Stormy, jogging, listening to music, and sharing meals with loved ones. He cherished Thirsty Tuesdays with his sister and friends and was known for his humor—always pushing the limits of a joke but ensuring it ended well. His children fondly remember car rides where he would teach them about their hometown and sing Spanish lyrics alongside their favorite English songs. A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, he supported his team through every season. He also found joy in attending church and playing Bingo Lotería, often leaving as soon as he won.

Ricardo's final act of generosity was as an organ donor, saving the lives of ten people. His selflessness will never be forgotten.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ricardo Lopez Jr.; grandmother Carmen Lopez; niece Christina Lopez; nephew Joshua Gonzales; uncles Sapo, Bobby, and Ramiro Sauceda; and cousins Adam and Robert Gonzalez. He is survived by his mother and dad, Theresa and Raul Sauceda; fiancée Rebecca Galloway; in laws Raymond and Florence Galloway, Daniel and Sandra Hernandez; daughters Vanessa Lopez and Iyana Lopez; sons Ricardo, Carlos, and Christopher Lopez; siblings Carmica (Brandon) Johnson, Monica (Jarett) Pahkala, Joseph (Tiffany) Lopez, Manuel (Nina) Lopez, and R.J. Sauceda; a grandchild on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
