(RET) CSM Richard Saldana Carrasco, 89 passed away peacefully Saturday, June 5, 2021. Richard Saldana Carrasco was a decorated veteran whom join the Air Force at the age of 19, would go on to serve the Korean War, after completing his term of enlistment in the Air Force, he would go on to service and retired from Army National Guard. Richard was awarded The Purple Heart; National Defense Service Medal with 1 bronze service star; Korean Service Medal with 2 bronze service stars; Korea Defense Service Medal; Army Commendation Medal, with 4 bronze oak leaf clusters; Army Achievement Medal with 2 bronze oak leaf clusters; Good Conduct Medal; Army Forces Reserve Medal with numeral 3; NCO Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 3; Army Service Ribbon; Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon with numeral 1; United Nations Service Medal; Expert Badge with Auto Rifle Bar with Rifle Bar; Sharpshooter Badge with Pistol Bar; Parachutist Badge - Senior; Parachutist Badge - Basic; Parachutist Badge - Master. Richard was an Engineer, employed and retired from the Army Corps of Engineers.

Richard was born on January 5, 1932 in Moore, Texas to his parents Willie Carrasco Sr. and Donicia Saldana Carrasco. He married his wife, Elisa Rendon Carrasco, July 14, 1956 and was married for 46 years until her passing in May 11, 2002.

Richard was the founder and owner of Mr. Income Tax Service, a business he had for several years which he enjoyed serving and helping the community and small businesses on taxes, bookkeeping and immigration services.

When he wasn't working, Richard had a great passion for deer hunting, fishing and sports.

Richard was predeceased by his parents Willie and Donicia Carrasco,Sr, wife Elisa Rendon Carrasco, sister. Mary Pompa, brothers; Willie Carrasco Jr. and Gilbert Carrasco.

Richard is survived by his three children daughter Velda Carrasco Johnson, son Charles Kenneth Carrasco, daughter Zelda Carrasco, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and other loving family members and friends.

In lieu of a funeral service and flowers, the family ask for donations to American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association.
