Richard Eugene
"Dixie" D'Albergo
Mar 22, 1943 — Jun 11, 2022
Galveston
Richard (Dixie) D'Albergo went to be with his Lord Jesus on June 11, 2022. There he will be free of his crippling condition and able to do those activities he always wished he could.
Richard was born on March 22, 1943, in Los Angeles, California. Born with severe cerebral palsy, he lived a productive life through his own strength and the support of his parents, who did not follow the advice of the medical community to put him in an institution.
His personality and friendliness won him may friends in Galveston. So many remember him riding his three wheel bike all around our island. He was able to live independently until a fall from his bike and with his worsening condition, he moved to Meridian Nursing Care in 2011. He lived there until his death.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Verda D'Albergo and brother, Preston D'Albergo. He is survived by his sister, Andrea Leveritt and her husband Dwight, his sister-in-law, Helen D' Albergo, nephew Andy D'Albergo, nieces Celeste Booker and Penny Leveritt, and numerous cousins and relatives.
A memorial service is planned for July 16, 2022, 2:00PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 5127 Avenue U, Galveston.
