Rod Staut passed away on March 18, 2021 at UTMB in Galveston. Rod was born to Doris Shaut and Ralph Shaut in Little Falls, New York on May 5, 1949. He served our country in the U.S. Army from 1968- 1974 and then went on to receive his degree in engineering from the University of Houston. He worked as a civil engineer for a number of years in Houston before settling in Galveston at The Galveston County Engineering Department until his retirement.
Rod loved spending his time with family and friends, barbecuing, fishing, crawfish boils, listening to good music, enjoying a few beers and occasionally especially on Fridays! He will be remembered as a no nonsense, no regrets kind of guy that may have seemed a bit tough on the outside, but truly had a heart of gold and would do anything for his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life Connie Shaut to whom he was married for 41 years as well as his father Ralph Shaut and his brother Jeff Shaut. Rod is survived by his mother Dorris Brown, sister Gale Miller, Brother Dennis Shaut, Sister-in-Law Rebecca Shaut, Sister -in- Law Tami Shaut, Aunt Blanche Matthews, Aunt Shirley Mead daughter Jackie Lee and husband Dana, grandchildren Chase and Megan Lee, and numerous family and friends including his beloved dog Greta.
