Rosalva Ortiz Grimaldo passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday April 24, 2026, at Ignite Medical Resort in Katy Texas. Funeral Mass is at 1:00 pm Friday May 1, 2026, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home of Galveston. The family will receive visitors at the Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston, Texas from 10am to12:30pm on Friday prior to the mass.
Born December 10, 1942, in La Madrid Coahuila, Mexico, Rosalva was a loving Wife, Mother and Retired Baker that created precious hand-crafted Birthday, Wedding and Quinceañera cakes for over 20 years for many friends and families in the Galveston County area. She married the love of her life, Jose Luis Grimaldo Sr. on May 8, 1961, and they were married for 48 years until his passing on January 10, 2009. Rosalva was a very loving and caring person that never hesitated to help anyone in need. She devoted herself and went above and beyond for everyone in her life. She dedicated her life to raising her sons and looking over Jose Jr. who needed her care, love and attention full-time. She did it with all of her heart and soul as if it was just another simple task. Not a single complaint ever. She was well known by friends and family for her authentic home cooking, delicious tortillas and her ability to put together a meal for 20 or more people in just a few minutes.
Preceded in death by her parents and 13 siblings. Survivors include brother Gustavo Ortiz Sr. of Dallas, son's Jose Luis Grimaldo Jr. of Galveston, Mario Alberto Grimaldo and wife Mary of Katy and Robert Alonzo Grimaldo and Wife Adriana of Waller. Grandchildren Paul, Eric, Krystal, Robert Jr, and Aliana. Great Grandchildren Nikko, Julie, Heidi, Chloe, Lauren, Vincent and Josephine Rose. Great Great Grandchild Acelyia; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Paul Chazarreta, Eric Chazarreta, Joel Quintana, Nikko Chazarreta, Tony Garcia, Robert Grimaldo Sr. accompanied by Robert Grimaldo Jr.
Rosalva will be missed by many, forever in our hearts, and always a part of our lives.
