Obituary

Ruby Louise Carr of Galveston Texas, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ in the early hours of Wednesday morning, October 9th, just 3 weeks shy of her 98th birthday. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 9:00am. Burial will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.

Ruby was born October 31, 1926 in Seneca Missouri to Isaac Boyd Crossley and Jennie Marie Carl. She was married to Luther (Son) Carr, a veteran of WWII, in Joplin Missouri, June, 1945. They spent several years in and around Tulsa Oklahoma before moving to Houston in 1956 where Son was self-employed as an auto mechanic and Ruby worked with him in his business as bookkeeper and courier. After Son passed away at age 52, Ruby was employed at Entex as a customer service representative for 15 years before retiring. Ruby was also very artistic. Among her talents were singing, sewing, crocheting and cake baking where she designed many wedding and novelty cakes for family and friends. Her home was a refuge to those in need where she shared her possessions, her wisdom and unconditional love. Ruby enjoyed life, especially at family gatherings, sharing stories, playing parlor games, laughing and singing karaoke with her children and grandchildren. She lived a full and blessed life and loved us all well.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Larry Manuel Carr and wife Rosie of Galveston, and Lance Rene Carr of Livingston TX, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Gasaway Carr, daughter Donna Jean, sons Luther Boyd, Lani Stephen and Leslie Wynn Carr and granddaughter Stacey Elaine Carr.
