Rudy Krohn was born April 11, 1940 in Bandung, Indonesia, formerly known as the Dutch East Indies. Rudy was not quite 2 years old when World War II brought Japanese forces to occupy his homeland, and brought many hardships to the young family. They coped.

As war in the Pacific was winding down, the family was able to escape Indonesia and emigrate to The Netherlands, which itself had been ravaged by war at the hands of German forces. But there they found a home, work, education, and stability. Then, when Rudy was 16, the family pulled up stakes again and came to the United States.

Houston Texas was now Rudy's home. There he completed his education, and at age 20, joined the US Army. He furthered his education while serving in Germany, and after his discharge, he proudly became a US citizen.

Rudy's work life was spent in the engineering world, primarily in the Petro-chemical field. He was a pioneer in computer-assisted engineering and design. He mentored many during his long career. He always enjoyed teaching.

On February 4, 1967, Rudy married Marsha Ann Nance at First Lutheran Church in Galveston. They had one son, Christopher. Together they enjoyed traveling, home schooling, dogs, and basketball.

Rudy passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, but peacefully in his sleep September 17, 2021. He never returned to Indonesia.

Preceded in death by his Son Christopher Krohn; Father John P. B. Krohn; Stepmother Leah Krohn; Sister Paula Gregston and brother-in-law Steven A. Nance.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years Marsha Ann Nance Krohn of Galveston; sister Myrna King; nieces Tonya Vikos and Vanessa Irby all of Houston; nieces Amy Nance and Ashley Nance both of League City; Nieces Kelli Marshall of Las Vegas NV and Andrea Kennedy of Dexter Michigan; nephew Aaron Nance of Santa Fe, Texas; Sisters-in-law Jacqueline Nance of Santa Fe TX; Sister-in-law Christina Nance and Brother-in-law Barry Nance both of Missouri City, Texas; nephew Carson Vikos of Houston; numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

In Lieu of Flowers memorial donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00am Friday November 19, 2021 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home.

A reception following the celebration will be held at the A Charles W. Adams Mansion, 2314 Avenue M in Galveston.
