Rufino (Dino) Vidaurri was born in San Antonio, TX on January 15,1942 and died at his residence in
Galveston of a Heart Attack. Dino was 4 yrs old when his family moved to Galveston and never left his
beloved Island even during hurricanes. He was a member of St Patricks Holy Famiy Paish and attended
Elementary School there. He went to high school at Kirwin Boys Academy and later enlisted in the US Army.
He served his country in Germany in the Infantry Division and was given an Honorable Discharge in
1962.Dino persued a career in Welding and became very skilled in his trade.· He excelled in commercial,
industrial and plant welding. He was a long time member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 54.
Rufino was preceeded in death by his parents, Jessie and Mary Lillian Vidaurri; a brother, David and sister,
Mary Jane. Rufino(Dino) has 5 surviving sisters: Diane Moore and Dora Vidaurri of Galveston, Trudy Hill of
Texas City, Alice Orrick of The Woodlands, Sally De Julia of Ohio and a brother, Jessie Martinez of San Diego,
11 nieces, 3 nephews and 2 very dear cousins in San Antonio.
There will be a Memorial Mass held in his honor at St Patricks Cathedral, Galveston TX on Thursday
September 10th at 11:30 AM. He lived his 78 years to his fullest and will be remembered and loved by his family
and friends
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to either Holy Family Parish, the local VFW or the American Heart
Association.
