Santiago Rodriguez passed away on January 15, 2024, at the age of 79 in Galveston, Texas. He was born on December 12, 1944, in El Mimbre, Coahuila, Mexico. Santiago had a fulfilling career and was dedicated to his work. He spent his younger years in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila in Mexico, working with livestock before immigrating to the United States in 1985. From 1991 to 2011, Santiago served the Custodial Department at Galveston College. Santiago was known by many around the campus as "Tony".

Santiago will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maria Elena, his daughter Juanita, his grandchildren Carlos and Santiago and sisters, Maria El Rosario and Josefina. He was preceded in death by his mother, Concepcion, his father, Cosme, his brother, Alvaro and sisters, Evangelina and Juanita.

Memorial services to celebrate Santiago's life and honor his memory are planned for a future time in his native country of Mexico. The details of these services will be shared with family and friends at a later date.

Santiago Rodriguez, or Tony as he was affectionately known, will be remembered for his dedication to his work, love for his family, and the impact he made on those around him. May his soul rest in peace.
