Silvia Leal (Jansen) passed away peacefully on October 17th, 2023, at the age of 60. She was a beloved and impeccable mother to Jessica Jansen. Silvia was a New Year Day baby, born on a Tuesday morning January 1st, 1963. A treasured baby girl born into a magnificent family by Margarito Leal Sr. and Enriqueta Leal in Galveston, Texas. The beautiful youngest sister to Maria Hamo (Mony), Mario Leal, Margarito Leal Jr. (Rachel), Irene Flores (Michael Flores), Elizabeth Leal, and Ricardo Leal (Tina Leal) and a loving Aunt to many. Silvia is survived by her daughter, Jessica Jansen and her 94-year-old mother, Enriqueta Leal. She is preceded in death by her father, Margarito Leal Sr.
She attended public schools in Galveston and graduated from Ball High School in 1981. Silvia participated in Tornettes, becoming a Lieutenant then excelling in dance and fondly remembering her ability to do high kicks at the Friday night football games. She was also a DEB throughout all 4 years in high school making lifelong friendships with many. Silvia was a Cosmetologist helping women feel beautiful for 27 years and even opened her own business on the Island of Galveston. She managed her business while being a devoted mother to Jessica then retired at the age of 57. Silvia was creative and had a natural talent for the arts, whether it be with cooking, crocheting, sewing, her style, or home decorating she was blessed with a keen eye. She will always be remembered for her beautiful soul, the strength of her personality and loving nature to those who were lucky enough to be in her life.
Visitation will be at Carnes Funeral Home on Sunday October 22, 2023, from 5-8 pm with a Service at 6:30, officiated by Pastor Rudy Soto. Her wishes are to be cremated and laid to rest in Calvary Catholic Cemetery near her father.
