We regretfully announce the passing of Steve Allen Smith, Sr., who took his final breath at 2:42 pm, on May 18, 2022, at Jennie Sealy Hospital, in Galveston, TX. Born in Galveston to J. T. He was known as a willing giver of sound advice and for possessing a beautiful, resilient spirit.
Steve was a member of the graduating Class of 1975 from Ball High School. He was a military veteran and after service he worked as a Longshoreman; however, his most cherished accomplishments were his two children, whom he referred to as "Shawn" and "Lil Steve".
Preceded in death by his parents; his loving memory will live on in the lives of his family to include his daughter Shawnte' Lynnette Pomier; his son Steve Allen Smith, Jr. (Myoshi); two grandchildren Teyah Nichole and Trey Pomier; sisters Eunice Miller (Talamadge) and Ida Manning; brothers Thomas and Buster Smith; nieces and nephews Akisha Little (Walter), Keyshawn Manning, Jordan Little, LaKisha Wren, Brianna Pennington, Lloyd Scurry, and Andre Beck; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Steve will be forever missed and cherished by his family and friends.
His family extends their deepest gratitude to his nurse, Ms. Debra May for the company and support she provided.
"A Thank You Letter to Our Father"
Thank you for the gift of life…Thank you for the peaceful heart…Thank you for a phenomenal sister…Thank you for the musical genes…Thank you for the killer smile…Thank for the things that you have done for us that we will never know…Thank you for fighting in the dark until the light of righteousness came…You were a GIANT! - Lil Steve
"A Prayer to Our Father"
Abba Father, may Your love hold us together as we grieve for our father. Psalm 34:18 states that you are near the brokenhearted and you will save those who are crushed in spirit. We ask that You remember and honor Your word by saving and renewing our spirits. Remind us that in our weakness you will provide stability and gain glory. Thank You for blessing us with our father and please help us to live a life of great legacy that honors him and You. Thank You in advance for the healing of our hearts and for the strength to remember our father with gladness. Lastly, THANK YOU Father for calling our father to rest in peace and for ending all of his suffering. We love You and we praise You and we know that Your plan is perfect. Amen. - Shawn
