On Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 9:50am, Thomas John McKenna III (Skate Tommy), left this earth to meet his maker at the age of 49.

Born and raised (BOI) in Galveston, TX on August 18, 1971, he is survived by: Lauren Elizabeth McKenna (LadyBug) – Daughter (NAVY – San Diego, CA); Nora Capuano McKenna Boutwell – Mother (League City, TX); Thomas John McKenna, Jr. – Father (Bernita McKenna – Step-mother) (Arlington, TX); Tammy Brod McKenna - Ex-wife (Waco, TX); Melissa McKenna Malone – Sister (James Malone – Brother-in-law and McKenna Jo Malone - Niece) (Highland Village, TX; Daniel Boutwell – Brother (League City, TX) and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Tommy passed away peacefully. He was the funniest, nuttiest person his daughter ever knew.  He had a larger than life laugh that would put a smile on anyone's face. His memory will live on in the hearts of everyone that knew him. He has finally found the peace he has been searching for many years.

Growing up, Tommy was a skateboarder and nicknamed "Skate Tommy" by those that knew him in the 80's. He would skate everywhere in Galveston County. As he grew, he then turned to his bicycle to get him around, he was always on wheels. He had a passion for music of all genres. He liked to rap and make his own music. He was a talented chef in his early years of hospitality.

LifeGift was called upon to use his body as an organ donation. In the end, his organs were not a match as he exceeded the timeframe to harvest.

Thank you to Ritvij Bowry, MD and the nurses at Memorial-Hermann Hospital that made him comfortable until the end.

A celebration of life will be held on his birthday, August 18, 2022, in Galveston, TX, when his daughter completes her tour of duty in the NAVY.

Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston, TX will perform a cremation.
