Travers Edward Powell age 75 passed away Saturday March 14, 2026, at HCA Clear Lake Heart Institute.  Born December 2, 1950 to Emily and Edward Powell, Travers attended Galveston schools and graduated from Ball High Class of '69.  Following graduation, Travers worked for the I.L.A Local 20 in Galveston.  Travers then joined the United States Navy in 1973 and was honorably discharged from the military in 1979.  After serving his country in the Navy, he continued his service with The Army Corps. Of Engineers as a photography specialist. He worked on numerous projects throughout South Texas and the Gulf Coast, until his retirement. Beyond working Travers was a loyal husband to Susan T. Powell until her passing in 2023. They enjoyed many trips domestically and abroad, most notably Italy and Spain.  Travers was also a founding member of the Z Krewe and a longtime member of the Galveston Elks Lodge 126.  He loved everything about Galveston and was a regular attendee of Mardi Gras and Dickens.

Join us in remembering Travers on Tuesday May 5th at St Mary's Cathedral Basilica where Military Honors will be performed at 0954 with a 10:00am Mass. Burial will follow at Houston National Cemetery with his wife Susan.  An Elks Memorial will be held 5:00pm at the Galveston Elks Lodge.
