Vernon Wayne Buss, age 74, of Galveston, TX passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025.

Wayne was a beloved son, husband, father, and grandfather. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents John Vernon Buss and Vera Lee Buss; wife Robyn Buss; and daughter Shanti Buss.  Wayne is survived by his daughters Wendy Buss (husband Dan), and Summer Portwood (husband Eric); sister Kathy Karriker (husband Ken), and nephew Jason Karriker.  Wayne was also a loving grandfather to Aeris Buss, Bodhi, Ziggy, and Nalu.

Wayne was the true BOI/DOI.  Many know his love for Galveston and so he "was born on island" and would "die on island."  Wayne was a giving person both to his family and his friends.  He was passionate about the outdoors, fishing and hunting and riding his Harley.  Wayne loved to take family and friends to the jetties or offshore fishing for whatever was running at the time.  He loved to ride the Harley cross country, going as far as California and Canada.  He drew great pleasure from life's simplest and sweetest things such as sunsets, his pets, the seawall, and riding the ferry to Bolivar and a trip to Fort Crockett.

Wayne distinguished himself as a pipe fitter at several area refineries.  He was known for being excellent at his craft and as hardworking and dependable.

The family would like to gather those who love Wayne to meet at the west end of the Seawall (across from Diamond Beach Condos) on Sunday, April 6th from Noon- 2:00 PM.
