Victor Vega age 81, of Galveston, Texas passed away the morning of December 2nd, 2024, at UTMB Hospital in Galveston. Funeral Mass is 10:00am Friday, December 6, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Galveston. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Galveston under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm where a rosary will be recited at 6:30pm.

Victor was born on July 28th, 1943, in Galveston, the son of Eufracia (Gonzalez) and Carlos Vega and spent his childhood on the island. After graduating High School, he served in the Air Force. After an honorable discharge, Victor received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Houston and his Master's degree from Indiana University. He spent his career ensuring students have the financial support to complete a post-secondary education, whether as university staff or as an independent contractor.  He spent his later years in his beloved childhood home in Galveston tending his garden and enjoying a quiet life.

Victor is survived by his children: Dr. Leticia Vega, Alexia (Gregg) Brown, and Victor JC Vega by his former wife Loise Canales and Vanessa (Paul) Skrabanek, Valerie Arredondo, Carlos Vega and Victor Vega by his former wife, Tibisay Saldana, as well as grandchildren Katelyn (Blake) Lau, Kristina Brown, Reagan Skrabanek and Hannah Skrabanek.
