Walter Terry Andreason Jr. (85 yrs old) passed away at his residence surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday January 30, 2025.
Walter was born Dec 2, 1939, to Walter T. Andreason, Sr. and Lillian Zorn Andreason of Galveston, TX. He was a 1957 graduate of Ball High School and a 1973 AAS graduate of Galveston College.
Walter proudly served his country by starting his military service with the U.S. Navy, and then transferred to the U.S. Army where he served as a Special Forces Green Beret.
Walter was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad, the Port of Galveston and Western Geophysical as a draftsman and retired from Galveston County Tax Office in 2012.
Walter's hobbies included Men's Fast Pitch Softball League, City Basketball League, Bowling, and backseat coaching of The Dallas Cowboys. Walter and his wife spent more than 20 years coaching the Youth Bowling Association in Galveston. He was recognized by the USBC, and the ABC for attending the National Bowling Tournaments for 36 consecutive years. His dedication to his passion for carpentry provided priceless heirlooms and keepsakes for his loved ones to cherish.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Dennis Andreason and stepson Ronald L. Luedecke. He is survived by wife of 50 years, Mary Louise Andreason and children Gary Luedecke and partner, Mollie of Elgin, Sheryl Mallia and husband, Wayne of Galveston, Sheryl Andreason Valdez of Angleton, Roger Andreason and wife, Cheona of Pearland, Renee Martin and husband, Wallace of League City and Erica Tennant and husband, William of Baytown. Also survived by 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to thank the Honorary Pallbearer, Robert Bullacher for his dedicated friendship throughout the years. Pallbearers will be Wallace Martin Jr., William Tennant Jr., Stephen Gutierrez, Scott Gutierrez, Cody Milligan, Kyle Borque, Joshua Andreason, and Jerad Andreason
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston. Funeral services are 10:00am Monday, February 3, 2025, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in the form of donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
