Galveston-William (Bill) Hummel, 72, passed away unexpectedly August 19, 2020 at his home.

He was born April 22, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Robert Hummel and Jane (Harrison) Hummel.

Bill was a life member of the Springfield Fire Department in PA. Bill joined the fire department in 1968 where he served in several Officer positions for many years before moving to Texas. Bill opened Hummel's General Store in Galveston 16 years ago where he proudly served the local community. He was active at West Isle Presbyterian Church in Galveston, becoming an Elder.

Bill will be best remembered for his Christian beliefs and ethics, never meeting a stranger. He will also be remembered for his "all in" commitment and tireless work ethic with the businesses he was blessed to have owned over his successful life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Ed Hummel. Surviving in addition to his devoted wife, Patti (Andrews) Hummel are his sons, Paul Hummel and wife Louise, William Hummel, Jr., daughters, Jane Stallings, Tammy Burks and husband Daniel; six grandchildren, Jason, Samantha, Natalie, Noah, Joshua and Camden; his brother Robert Hummel and wife Ann. He was adored by his wife's family, 93-year-old mother-in-law Arlene and 4 sister-in laws, a brother-in-law, and their families.

A service of remembrance will be announced at a later date to be held at West Isle Presbyterian Church, 13724 Stewart Road, Galveston, Texas 77554.
