William Thomas age 95 of Galveston died Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Jennie Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Entombment of his cremains will take place in the Columbarium at Houston National Cemetery in Houston under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home.

William was born on November 24, 1926 to the union of Wesley James Thomas and Ida Sherwood Thomas and graduated from the Old Central High School in Galveston, Texas. He also graduated from Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana where he became a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

After teaching for 30 years in 7 countries including Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A.; France, Germany, Ethiopia; and in Libya with the U.S. Department of Defense Dependents Schools; the U.S. Peace Corps as a volunteer in Central African Republic; and St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

In his final years he enjoyed the vital and necessary support of his niece Loretta Baker, all nieces, nephews, family and many friends.
