Willie Lavon Holmes age 49 of La Marque died Friday, December 13, 2019 at HCA Hospital Clear Lake. Funeral services are 11:00am Saturday December 21, 2019 at St. John Baptist Church, Rev. Louis Simpson and Rev. Kenneth Guidry officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston. Visitation will begin at the church at 10:00am on Saturday.

Willie was born December 29, 1969 in Galveston, Texas. He was a boiler maker and welder by trade. He loved to travel, going to the casinos and exploring the world. He loved to learn and was a very smart, intelligent and wise man. He will be missed and his memory we will forever revere. Rest with the angels.

Willie was preceded in death by his father Willie Lavon Hayward, mother Linda Joyce Holmes and a son Tyrell Lavall Smith. Survivors include his wife of 21 years Nicole Theresa Holmes of LaMarque, sons, Willie Lavon Holmes, II of North Carolina and Tyrone Lavall Smith, Jr. of La Marque, and closest friend John Florence of Texas City; numerous other relatives and many friends.
